COVID-19 is affecting all our lives in ways that we have never imagined. Our thoughts and prayers are with those personally impacted by this virus and to all in adjusting to the new reality of our world.
In following new social norms and expectations, the Heartland Mediators Association’s Board of Directors has canceled the Annual Membership Meeting and Training scheduled for April 16 and 17. All attendance fees received will be reimbursed.
While these are uncertain times, the Board will be moving to create remote trainings to meet the needs of our members. Uncertainty will not hinder our association, or our society for that matter, from moving forward. Training is and will continue to be the cornerstone of our efforts.
The HMA’s 2020 annual meeting is tentatively planned for the week of April 13 via an electronic survey (Survey Monkey). Items to be presented to members include bylaws amendments and the traditional bi-annual election of a Board and Officers.
Until we determine what our organizational and societal “new normal” are or will be, we are all encourage to reach out to neighbors and friends just to say “Hi”. A further challenge is to write a letter to an old friend - nothing beats receiving a letter with a stamp on it from friends and family.
Take care and reach out if you have questions,
Jim Donovan, President Melanie Worsley, President-Elect
The Heartland Board established a one-year pilot project to educate the public about the benefits and availability of dispute resolution. This project created a short list of speakers who agree to make presentations on a variety of dispute resolution topics to groups who request such a speaker. Click here to learn more.
